Independent process leadership and facilitation

Complex questions require that people can think clearly together.

Man & Nature leads processes, projects and meetings in natural resources, landscape and sustainable land and water use.

Biology, journalism and facilitation – with experience since 2002.

Bridges between knowledge, perspectives and interests

Questions about natural resources are rarely settled by someone finding the missing fact. They stall because the knowledge sits with different parties, because perspectives differ, and because interests pull in different directions. Academia, authorities, business and civil society each hold a part of the picture.

Forest, water and a road in one landscape — rarely with the same owners, interests or time horizons.

Man & Nature creates the conditions for joint learning between them. Many environmental questions are marked by scientific uncertainty, complexity, large knowledge gaps and conflict — that is the kind of challenge the company is glad to take on.

The work rests on independence. Man & Nature is independent in relation to political, religious, economic, public and private special interests. That is what allows every party to trust the process.

Three ways to contribute

Project and process management

A process that holds together when the question is hard and the parties are many.

Project management and process management with a focus on natural resources, landscapes and sustainable land use. Experience of complex multi-party processes at national and regional level.

From an unclear question to a shared next step

  1. Understand the assignment

What is the question really, who does it affect, and where do the dividing lines run? The starting point is the situation you are actually in.

  2. Design a clear process

A process shaped for the task: who should meet, in what order, and on what basis.

  3. Lead dialogue and joint learning

Meetings where knowledge and perspectives meet, where every voice is heard and where competing interests can be handled openly.

  4. Summarise and move the work forward

Conclusions that can be used, documented so the work can continue once the assignment is over.

Read more about the company

I am a biologist, journalist and facilitator. Since 2002, I have mainly worked with communication and facilitation of meetings, projects and processes – first at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, then at the County Administrative Board of Västerbotten, and in recent years in my own company, Man & Nature AB.

My ambition is to help people think clearly together about complex and intractable social issues, with a particular focus on sustainable development, natural resources and land and water use.
